Within the past year, there has been a huge decline in articles written by me. Much of this is due to an intentional transition I've made away from writing articles focused on business, information technology, and information systems. I have written on those topics for more than two decades now, and it's simply time for me to move onto something different. The problem is that as I'm making my way through different, I've lost a bit of my writing voice. While I have plenty of new ideas and interests to write about, I'm finding that I'm hesitating to move forward for fear of tripping on my own two feet.
In order for me to make any progress, I need to start getting back into the routine of writing blog posts, even if it is only for an audience of one. For the next few weeks, I'm going to try to do my best in posting a daily blog, even if it's only covering the mundane tasks of my day. So be warned that this blog may include such exciting topics as me taking the trash out, installing a new toilet fill valve, and watching my favorite baseball team. Do not worry, though, there will also be some better articles written by me that I will likely crosspost on my more professional websites such as socPub and Gen X Living.
Be advised, though, I'm no Seth Godin. Despite having a goal, I doubt my daily posts will be continuous. When I skip a day, it won't be due to having writer's block but due to allowing higher priorities to utilize my time over writing for this blog. While blogging can be important, I won't trade that for an opportunity to be present for what life can offer when you're away from the computer screen.
As an experiment, I have reactivated the comment section on my personal website. I know commenting on personal blogs is not what it once was, but I do miss having the feedback here instead of scattered across social media platforms. I'm using Disqus, but if you are aware of better (and hopefully free) options, please feel free to suggest them here. If you wish to provide me with feedback but won't do it here, you can reach out to me via Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads.
